What this course covers

NCEES FS — 110 questions, field book to boundary law

Your exam and course scope

NCEES Fundamentals of Surveying: 110 questions, 6-hour appointment, Pearson VUE CBT, closed book with the electronic FS Reference Handbook, criterion-referenced PASS/FAIL. Built on the seven content areas at their issuer ranges — Boundary Law and Survey Computations the heaviest — with COGO/leveling steppers, a boundary-law order-of-calls trainer, and a confusable trainer (riparian vs littoral, accretion vs avulsion, departure vs latitude). An FS/FE chooser prevents the costliest wrong-drill error.

Where this applies. The FS exam is the same NCEES exam in every state; licensure later adds the PS exam and, in many states, a separate state-specific surveying exam that this course does not cover.

This is knowledge practice for the written exam. It does not replace approved training, eligibility checks, or any skills evaluation your certifying body requires. NCEES exam fees, the FS Reference Handbook edition, and datum modernization (NATRF2022/NAPGD2022) evolve; state boundary-law specifics vary by jurisdiction — verify the current ncees.org materials and your state board's rules before you register. The FS is criterion-referenced PASS/FAIL; ignore any source quoting a percent cut.

What you get

8 teaching modules and 105 practice questions, with narrated lessons, cards, explained answers and review of missed material. Review tests are drawn from the bank you drill and scored against a labelled practice readiness bar — a study target, not the official passing score and not a conversion to it.

How the real exam is scored. NCEES scores the FS pass/fail against a criterion-referenced standard; there is no fixed passing percentage and no published number-correct cut.
