NCEES FE Civil — 110 questions, built to the Reference Handbook

Your exam and course scope

NCEES FE Civil: 110 questions, 6-hour appointment, computer-based at Pearson VUE, closed book with the searchable electronic FE Reference Handbook, criterion-referenced PASS/FAIL (no percent-correct cut). Built on the fourteen knowledge areas at their official ranges with worked-calculation steppers, a Reference Handbook find-the-formula trainer, and a confusable trainer. An FS/FE path chooser keeps surveying-bound candidates off the wrong drill.

Where this applies. The FE exam is the same NCEES exam in every state; your state engineering board decides who may sit for it and how you apply for EI/EIT certification after you pass.

This is knowledge practice for the written exam. It does not replace approved training, eligibility checks, or any skills evaluation your certifying body requires. NCEES exam fees, the FE Reference Handbook edition, and the published specification revisions change — verify the current ncees.org materials before you register. The FE is criterion-referenced PASS/FAIL; disregard any source quoting a percent-correct or number-correct cut.

What you get

15 teaching modules and 87 practice questions, with narrated lessons, cards, explained answers and review of missed material. Review tests are drawn from the bank you drill and scored against a labelled practice readiness bar — a study target, not the official passing score and not a conversion to it.

How the real exam is scored. NCEES scores the FE pass/fail against a criterion-referenced minimum-competency standard set by a panel of licensed engineers; it publishes no percent-correct or number-correct cut, and the raw score needed varies with each exam form.
